A course is a self-paced guided tour through a topic. The topic can be broad like Biology or focused like Photosynthesis. Each lesson of a course is comprised of narrative (the words of the tour guide) plus resources. The resources can be embedded web pages, web links, quizzes, presentations, and activities.

A curriculum is a set of topics that a student should know by a certain age. In our system, a curriculum includes a link to its description on the web and a list of required topics. Our personalized study system uses this information to guide and quiz students according to their chosen curriculum.

A presentation presents knowledge and skills using a mix of text and multimedia. It's the modern equivalent of a traditional written explanation for a particular topic.

There are several types of question, including multiple choice, freeform, true/false and fill-in-the-blanks.
quiz
A quiz is a series of questions, such as multiple choice, freeform, true/false and fill-in-the-blanks. Quizzes can be assembled from a mix of new questions and existing questions.

A rubric is a scoring tool that lists the criteria for rating a piece of work. If an assignment is associated with a rubric, it can be quickly and consistently scored online by checking the criteria that are met.
